The Julie Dilemma

Okay, this post is all about y'all's opinions. I'm gonna need 'em. So...

If you didn't know, this is Julie. She was my very first 18" doll. I got her on Christmas in 2009, I believe.

Well, anyway, the reason she has duct tape on her is, her leg broke off. We can't send her to the doll hospital anymore, because Madame Alexander sold their company and closed down their doll hospital.

I can't use Julie at all, the duct tape isn't working anymore and there's no way to fix it. I was thinking about just putting her away in a box for safekeeping.
What do you think I should do? Please comment down below your suggestions.

  1. That's very sad! Well, I guess if you can't use her, you should put her in a safe place so she doesn't get even more damaged. She is your first doll, so that makes her very special.

  2. Because she is yuor first doll I think you should keep her somewhere safe, I am not thar familiar with Madame Alexander dolls but I do know if her limbs are strung then all you have to do is restring them. Good Luck!

    1. Madame Alexander dolls are sadly, not made like AG dolls. They have wire in their legs, which is sadly non-repairable.

    1. Yes, that's what my mom keeps saying! She doesn't think i should put her away, but I think it'd be for the best, just to keep her safe from any more damage.

    1. Very true. Julie is extremely special to me, and I don't want any more "harm" to come to her.

  5. I think you should put her away and keep her safe, especially since you have Bristol now. Good luck!

  6. You could blog with the first doll showing a disability...like Lainey suggested get her a wheelchair.

Also Dr. Di at Doll Diaries does restorations and I think she knows of a doll hospital that might be able to fix her. Have you tried asking her about Julie?

    1. YES! I agree! She should have a disability. That would be the perfect solution. ;)

  7. Poor Julie! Maybe you could put her in dresses only so the duct tape doesn't show (I'm not sure if that would work, am I missing something?)

    1. Yeah, I did that for a little while, but now the duct tape is sliding off and is leaving icky goo all over her leg where it used to be, so it'd be hard fr her to wear any clothes at all, the clothing would get all sticky. :( Thanks for the suggestion though! :)

  8. Aww, Julie's so cute! I had a Madame Alexander doll once whose arm broke off (her name is Isabella) and I sent her to this doll hospital and they gave her a new joint:

You could probably call them about sending Julie in.

  10. Well, I am not sure what you mean by they "sold their company and closed down their doll hospital", but they still sell dolls, they have a website, and they have a doll hospital, though they are not taking any submissions right now. Here is the link: http://www.madamealexander.com/doll-hospital

    1. The original company who owned Madame Alexander (based in NY) sold their company to another company in China. So they still sell dolls, though it isn't quite the same anymore. Thank you for providing the link!

  12. Look for the same type of doll on Ebay and other places and you might be able to do a body swap.
